On November 7th, 2023, the Bulgarian Medicines Verification Organization took part in the Tenth Annual Health Conference, organized by the Capital newspaper, which was held in a hybrid format at the Balkan Palace Hotel, Sofia. The forum focused on the successes and challenges faced by Bulgarian healthcare over the past ten years, with a glance at the opportunities and aspirations for the future in achieving Bulgaria’s healthcare potential.
During the panel discussion, entitled “What will we carry over from the last into the next ten years” Ms. Illiana Paunova, Executive Director of BgMVO, presented the role of the Medicines Verification System in the information interoperability of digital systems in the process of medicines supply in Bulgaria. She demonstrated the information workflows in the integrated European Medicines Verification System. The participants were acquainted with the implementation of the medicines verification process in the context of the new NHIF requirements for hospital pharmacies – to reimburse only decommissioned medicines.
The various aspects of the transformation to digital healthcare were discussed in the panel and followed with great interest by the participants in the forum: physicians, pharmacists, representatives of government institutions, international organizations, academia, professional associations, and businesses in the health sector.
