The regular workshop of National Competent Authorities in EU and the representatives of European and National Medicines verification organisations was held in a virtual format on 11th October 2022.
The program of the meeting included discussion about the main steps and achievements in the implementation of the alert management system (AMS) in several EU member states, the progress and challenges in FMD implementation in some countries, the situation with inter market transactions in the medicines verification process, and NCA reports update.
Mrs. Illiana Paunova, Executive director of BgMVO, presented the progress in FMD implementation in Bulgaria. The participants were acquainted with the current situation with monitored parameters for FMD implementation in our country. The actions to increase the activity of end users were presented, as well as the legislative successes achieved together with Bulgarian regulatory authorities to improve medicines verification procedures.
Mrs. Paunova also presented the steps for continuing and consolidating the achieved results, which include a National alert management system (NMVS Alerts) implementation, as well as active communication with the institutions and with all participants in the pharmaceutical supply chain.
Over 70 participants followed with interest the rich program of the forum. Along with the representatives of National Competent Authorities, the European and National medicines verification organisations, the meeting was also attended by representatives of European organisations of medicines manufacturers, wholesalers, and all other pharmaceutical supply chain stakeholders.
On 21st October 2022, a meeting of BgMVO with the Executive Director and experts from the Bulgarian Drug Agency took place, at which topics of the held European forum were discussed, and concrete measures were agreed to increase the activity of pharmacies and achieve comprehensive implementation of Falsified Medicines Directive in Bulgaria.
