Bulgarian Medicines Verification Organisation took part in the 15th annual forum Bulgarian pharmaceutical days 2022, which was held at Grand Hotel Plovdiv under the title “Responsible in professionalism”. The event is traditionally associated with the professional holiday of Bulgarian pharmacists (Enyovden), and its success and popularity are growing with each passing year. At the official opening, participants were greeted by the Minister of health, prof. Assena Serbezova.
In the scientific plenary session Mrs. Illiana Paunova, executive director of BgMVO gave a lecture on “Practical aspects of medicines verification in Bulgaria”. The participants were acquainted with the indicators of Falsified Medicines Directive implementation in Europe and Bulgaria, with the data on Bulgarian Medicines Verification System functioning during the past three years, as well as with main pharmacies’ obligations to work with the System.
With several practical examples Mrs. Paunova presented the topic of alert management in the Verification System. The reasons for alerts generation were considered, an analysis of their frequency and the necessary appropriate actions were discussed. The lecture was followed with great interest by the audience. The establishment of a working group in the Ministry of Health for guidelines preparation regarding management of quarantined packs of medicinal products during verification was appreciated.
Over 1000 participants followed with interest the discussions in the forum Bulgarian Pharmaceutical Days. In addition to the pharmaceutical professionals, it was attended by representatives of state institutions, academia, students, manufacturers, wholesalers, representatives of Bulgarian and international organisations, as well as many specialists in the field of healthcare. Within the event, awards for Master Pharmacist of the year, Regional Pharmaceutical college of the year, various categories of medicinal and non-medicinal products were solemnly presented.
